Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has rejected renegade Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) General David Sejusa’s request to extend his leave from the house and has ordered that he attends the next plenary session.
“Gen. Sejusa is out of the country, neither on UPDF duties nor parliamentary duties” Speaker Kadaga said on Tuesday.
Kadaga’s order comes a month after Sejusa wrote to the Speaker of parliament requesting for an extension of his leave from parliament.
However, according to the Speaker’s orders, Sejusa must attend the next plenary session. The next session of parliament is on Wednesday, 2pm.
Sejusa has been holed up in London since April after claiming that army officers including himself and government officials opposed to the ”Muhoozi Project” were targeted for assassination.
The Muhoozi Project refers to a purported plan to have President Museveni’s son, Brig Muhoozi Kainerugaba, succeed his father as President.
The government however denies the existence of such a scheme.
