Kabale To Get 6.5 MW Power Station
Sandun Thalagala, the business development manager Vidullanka Plc says the project is expected to be completed within a period of 24 months. Sandun says that the feasibility study has already been undertaken adding that the, Compensation exercise is expected to be concluded in the first week of November 2013.
Timothy Twikirize of Twikirize and Company advocates, who are the project’s legal consultants, says all the necessary steps are being taken to ensure all residents affected by the project are fully compensated. He says the evaluation process is already underway adding that payment will commence upon the completion of the exercise.
Ali Karama, the Kabale district works secretary has welcomed the
proposed construction of the dam saying it is very vital for the people
of Kabale. He says once completed, the dam will boast industrialization
in the area. Karama says there is need for government to think of
rehabilitating the Old Dam at Maziba which used to generate 1.5
megawatts before it broke down about two decades ago.
Alex Asiimwe, a consultant with Albertine investments limited the
project consultants say the community has welcomed the project, which
has expedited their work.
