Man Jailed 15 Years For Raping 65 Year Old Woman

Jack Jasper Omara 29, a resident of Otongo-Del trading center in Dokolo district has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping a 65 year old woman.

The rate at which Old women and children are being raped is still high in Uganda.

Presiding Judge Simon Byamukama Mugenyi of Lira high court stated that prosecution tabled overwhelming evidence to convict Omara for the acts he did in 2010.
Prosecution alleged that Omara, on September 22 2010, attacked the old woman from her house.
Omara pleaded not guilty of the charge but accepted before court that the old woman was his long time girlfriend. Court rejected his plea for a lesser sentence.
Justice Byamukama warned the youth against excessive consumption of alcohol and drug abuse saying this is the cause of their involvement in crime.
